There are almost as many different answers to this question
as there are African Grey Parrot keepers.
The truth is that nobody really knows. Captive bred African
Greys were until recently relatively rare and most estimates
of age were based on imported stock of unknown origin. To
make matters even more confusing there is , as with antiques,
also the tendency to include the age of the last owner when
trying to calculate a birds age.
Previous reports of parrots reaching 100 plus years would
seem to be a little ambitious, We think 50 to 60 years would
seem to be a more realistic estimate.
